dear lisa,

Open when you feel like you're doing everything wrong

Dear Lisa,

That "overwhelming dread sickness and anxiousness like I'm doing something wrong" - that's anxiety lying to you. That's not reality.

Challenge the all-or-nothing thinking: You're not doing EVERYTHING wrong. That's impossible. Let's look at what you're actually doing RIGHT:

Things you're doing RIGHT

  • ❤️ Caring for patients every day
  • 💼 Showing up to work even when you're struggling
  • 🤝 Maintaining friendships
  • 💪 TRYING - you're reading this, which means you're fighting for yourself
  • 🎯 Recognising when you need help
  • 📝 Working on your mental health

See? Not everything.

Progress isn't linear

  • ✅ You'll have good days and bad days
  • ✅ You'll take steps forward and steps back
  • ✅ You'll mess up sometimes
  • ✅ You'll learn and try again

None of that means you're doing it wrong.

You're allowed to be a work in progress.

The feeling that everything is wrong is a symptom of anxiety and depression. It's not an accurate assessment of your life. Don't let your brain convince you otherwise.

Remember: It doesn't have to win. The catastrophic black and white thinking is a liar. You're doing better than your brain is telling you.

Love, Chris ✨
