dear lisa,

Open when guilty about not living in Dublin

Dear Lisa,

Your family keeps saying Leeds is "flogging a dead horse." But whose life is it? Whose happiness are we talking about here?

Let's challenge that narrative:

  • 🏴 Leeds isn't a failure just because your family thinks it is
  • ❤️ You have a life here (there), friends here, a relationship here
  • 🌱 You're allowed to build a life outside of Dublin
  • 🎯 Their preference for where you live shouldn't override YOURS

Hard truth: They take personal offence that you don't want to live in Dublin. That's THEIR emotional reaction. That's not your responsibility to fix by sacrificing your own life.

Your happiness matters just as much as theirs.

Questions to ask yourself:

  • 💭 If their opinions didn't exist, where would I want to be?
  • 💭 Am I actually unhappy in Leeds, or am I just tired of defending my choice?
  • 💭 What would living in Dublin actually give me? What would it cost me?
  • 💭 Am I making this choice for me, or to stop them being disappointed?

Remember: You're a professional woman. You're not a teenager who needs their permission. Where you live should be YOUR decision based on YOUR life - your career, your relationship, your happiness.

You don't owe them geographical proximity to earn their love.
